Ruto Explains Why He was Inoculated with Sputnik V Covid-19 Jab Instead of AstraZeneca

Deputy President William Ruto has defended his decision to be inoculated with Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine whose importation into the country was shrouded in controversy.

Ruto was among the first people in Kenya to receive the Russian-manufactured jab that had been shipped into the country by a private company.

He was criticized for snubbing the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine that was publicly administered to President Kenyatta and other Cabinet members.

But in an interview with Citizen TV’s Linus Kaikai, Ruto said he was not invited to the vaccination exercise for senior government officials which took place at State House, Nairobi on March 26th.

“When the President decided that it was time for himself and the Cabinet to take the vaccine, I think inadvertently someone forgot to invite me and so I was not available during that exercise. I am not blaming anybody maybe some secretary there forgot to inform me,” said Ruto.

He added: “If I did not go State House I had the choice of going to queue in the health center next to my residence here but what would that do? … I would have probably taken a vaccine that would have been taken by a mama mboga or somebody else. The vaccine I took cost Sh7,000 to a deputy president. You want to tell me I cannot pay Sh7,000 for an available vaccine; not because it is different or expensive but because we have 1 million vaccines and we have to vaccinate 20 million Kenyans.”

Ruto further disapproved of the decision by the Health Ministry to ban the importation and administration of the Covid-19 vaccine by private entities.

“It is my position that we should have every available vaccine type notwithstanding. We should encourage the private sector to roll out as long as it is approved by the government. Let Kenyans who can pay, pay,” he said.

He added: “The most important exercise we should be engaging in right now is vaccination because once we have vaccinated 70% of Kenyans that is the only way we can reopen this country.”

Ruto always plays the victim’s card in everything that goes on around him! What vaccine to take it is a matter of personal choice. He does not have to be invited to take any kind of vaccine. Unfortunately this victim card plying confirms to Kenyans why Ruto is not worthy the highest seat in the land!

Ruto could have sacrificed to take the vaccine he took to allow the one mama Mbogo take it. He choose to take the vaccine and let the mama Mboga die! What kind of a deputy president is Ruto? Selfish!

A selfish thief of the highest corruption order! Kenya would go on flames with Ruto on the helm! I ask Uhuru to do everything possible to deny Ruto the opportunity to lead Kenya! We can’t have a thief for president! No way!

How do you vaccinate 70% of 20,000,0000 people with 1,000,000 available doses? Is this some ghetto math from a whole DP of the Republic of Kenya? One wonders and wonders never-cease to amaze!

Ruto is always whining like a little toddler boy. Uhuru is not responsible for your inoculation and for what COVID jab you decided to take. Ruto always has to complain like a little bitch does while on temporal heat! Save us the grief Ruto!

Sputnik has been banned in Kenya due to lack of approval by the WHO body!

So what does Ruto to get the second shot? Get extrazenca vaccine shot on top of Sputnik?

JT must u wait for WHO to approve everything 4 u? Approved Astrazeneca and JJ now causing blood clots and deaths and many countries have banned them. Its time we stop East West Wars and judge and approve stuff on our own. Africa is 600yr old guy unlike America 200 yr old kid

Well said Sir. I also went for Sputnik for the same reason. If someone can afford to pay 7k it’s morally correct to leave the free one to people who are suffering in this tragic moment.

I did it, not telling you to do the same. Since we are in a democracy it’s my personal choice. And you know very well why Sputnik was stopped in Kenya and has no side effects. By the way in India (1 billion 300 millions people) its the vaccine of choice.
Since when do you trust WHO?

First I’m not Indian and wouldn’t want to be one! Second, all medical decisions are individually based! Thirdly, I won’t take any any advise from you let alone a medical advise! Fourth - the fact that the vaccine is not proven to work is the main reason I won’t take it for a mere shs 7,000 that to you is a lot of money!

You and Ruto have a unique way or ways of justifying ghetto corruption! What is “well said sir” while the crap you toot is not properly tested? Your nonsense sticks to the highest hell!

While you are arguing about WHO approval, we are taking herbs from the herbalists because of the shortage of the vaccines. Does the herbalists have WHO approval?
