Mike Sonko Transferred to Kamiti Maximum Prison

Former Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko has reportedly been moved to Kamiti Maximum Security Prison for detention.

Reports indicate that Sonko, who was being held at Gigiri police station, was whisked away to the facility on Wednesday evening.

His lawyers, Assa Nyakundi and John Khaminwa, said they were headed to Kamiti to meet their client. Nyakundi told The Star that he was informed that Sonko is set to face terrorism-related charges.

“There is a huge traffic jam but I am told he is already at Kamiti waiting for possible arraignment. We are informed police have sworn an affidavit seeking to hold him for 30 days over terrorism-related charges,” said Nyakundi.

Sonko had earlier in the day appeared at Milimani law courts for a case in which he is charged with conspiracy to defraud the Nairobi county government of Sh14 million.

A Kiambu court on Wednesday ordered Sonko be detained at Gigiri police station pending the ruling on his bail application on Thursday.

He was charged with 12 counts of robbery with violence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and destruction of property.

The charges are in relation to an alleged forced entry into a property located in Nairobi’s Buruburu Phase 4 estate on May 25th, 2019.

How true. Shows you ignorance and stupidity is inborn. Sonko, you moved around with hyenas and you think you can just dismount and go scotfree. They will bite you first.
Now. Your next move

Justice is patient!! If you know about law, it takes a whole heck of time to form concrete evidence against law breakers. It can take 10 plus years to build a case. Google what happens far more development countries justice system. Its sometimes case dependent on magnitude of the case.

I am
Not saying he didn’t commit a crime! There’s no justice in kenya especially if the accused are moneyed! This is just a political revenge by Uhuru & his allies. Sonko just like any other rich & connected man in kenya will soon be out/exonerated! Money & the power speaks louder!

Politics and Religion are two man-made challenging institutions.
In the US, the church leaders lied to the former president that their god had come to them in a dream and assured them that the former president that he would win the presidency and get a second time in office in a landslide. You all know what happened on January 6, 2021 as a result of the president believing these fake men and women of cloth!

Ndugu Sonko never imagined that his past and present activities would be activated and land him in Kamiti Prison. However, had WAFULA CHEBUKATI examined Sonko's past activities, he would not have cleared him to run for any public office. Choices have consequences!

@ Imara Daima. Sonko will here alot of "Welcome back.We missed you".Iam sure some of those serving life, and long terms will remember him. Humor aside, This Sonko fellow was a known drug dealer, that alone should have disqualified him.The fellow had no business being a governor, much less a village chief.
The problem with our voters is that, they go for someone who ostentatiously displays his stolen wealth, while sprinkling few crumbs here and there.
If only we can make the masses for what the candidate stands for.My take is that when Wafula Chebukati failed the people, the people should not have failed by electing Sonko. We the people should start voting on principles, ideology, and integrity of the candidate. We should refrain from these short term benefits from politicians, and vote for what is good for the Kenya,or the nation. That's the change we need. Yes we can if we have the will.

Add VOLUME... Truth but my advise to all, forget Kenya and l have come to realise we Kenyan and as African in general we have a problem. Has anyone tried to build in Kenya and see the lies people have and then you point finger at the government? There is a cancer among African on how we manage our problems but at least and l give credit to the western world that we leave our home countries and they accept us just the way we are with our backwardness but We work hard and make it though we say we are been discriminated but l think l do see the root cause in some of the issues we face even where we are. Sorry l comment on something else Imara but l agree with your sentiment.

You don't fool around with those in power. This Sonko was given so many chances but did not understand how power works. Those in power are now tired of baby sitting Sonko with his mdomo payuka payuka. But Inwonder is Sonko has some hidden videos to payback for his pain and suffering 🤔🤔🤔

It will be very difficult to convict drug lord Mbuvi on these charges in a “legalized” corrupt country like Kenya.Witnesses will be bought or face death. Some may deny it but I challenge them to tell me why Uhuru & Raila promised 2500 councilors shs 2m. vehicle each and pension which is direct bribery? Can they tell me why Uhuru,Ruto,Raila plus his small tu-hyenas are paid shs 13b. per year for privately owned political parties? Why are Wanjigi & Murathe paid 15% brokage fee on every govt procurement including loans in govt to govt deals?RISASI TU.

Don’t believe everything you read on media. There is a lot of twisted infor. First, what mca’s are getting in the proposal are LOANs that they must repay. These are not free monies and not all are interested in them. Second, all the other amounts you quoted are validated in the 2010 constitution. Do not buy into twisted truths. Thats why our democracies look good on paper but distorted info gets us in a Sh** h*le.

Sonko used to have the direct phone number Uhuru Kenyatta..
He used to work for Karanja kibicho directly.
Karanja Kibicho is PS interior ministry.
Uhuru Kenyatta illegitimate president.

How can a terrorist have the number of the president and work for interior ministry?

Uhuru Kenyatta & his government have been financing terrorism in Kenya.

Auwiiiii.....

Y'all know this is just one of those cases which will never see light nor darkness. Sonko has his own faults but the reasons given here for his arrest are not new, they are neither here nor there. He has been talking too much lately and irritating the masses the reason why he has to be tamed for now. They say "If you can't beat them join them" and I hope Sonko will consider that next time. Aki Nani ali turoga?

Asista (not verified)     Wed, 02/03/2021 @ 10:46pm

It’s government impunity at it’s best. Justice does not work this way. Sonko like most of those in government is not that clean. But look at the timing of his arrest. Especially with the mention of Kibicho as part of the terror suspects and the intelligence chief as an accomplice. And here we see selective justice. Sonko being a whistleblower should have been given immunity and made a witness.
For Gods sake nail him on if you can on corruption charges and not this juvenile shenanigans of terrorism. Stop the harassment because at some point what you do to others may turn back to you.
Release him on his cognizance or at least give him a police bond. And when time comes to prove his guilt put him to jail. That is justice in law.

@ Ndugu Maxiley:

I hear you brother Maxiley. I beg to differ with you on the issue of the masses taking responsibility for voting for incompetent, corrupt, and greedy people in public offices. Why? Just imagine a man/woman who has not eaten for almost two days encounters a corrupt presidential candidate who offers a meal and gives a thousand shillings to this poor fellow and requests for a his/her vote: the starving person will certainly remember the meal and the money given to him/her during the election day. However, if WAFULA CHEBUKATI performed his duties as required, he would make an effort to have advance information from the National Security and Intelligence people and would close the doors by denying candidates with a questionable past from running for any national public elective office. I sincerely don't blame the starving people in a land of artificial poverty where the few rich people can take advantage of this state of helplessness from the people by bribing them to get in office.

I have repeatedly asked the president to demand the arrest of anyone holding public meetings where the participants are not required to wear face masks but to no avail! These public meetings have opened gates for the spread of COVID-19 in our nation.

We demand a new Kenya where careless, incompetent, and corrupt people are not cleared to run for any public elective office in our nation come 2022. Brother WAFULA CHEBUKATI is responsible for allowing mediocre, lying, incompetent,, and corrupt people to be elected and continue advancing their corrupt practices at the expense of the desperate, poor, and starving people of Kenya.

I hear you Ndugu Imara Daima. Yes it would be very hard for a starving man to turn down an offer of agood dish,or even a not so good dish the politician offers.See, at this point they are thinking of short term gains.Politicians prey on this. That's why I said if we could refrain from short term gains.
Another way to look at it is that Chebukati lets a crook through the gate,We should not let the crook through the door into the house.
Bottom line most of our leaders have let us down.See the bigger problem is not letting the crooks in,but letting the stay, and do more damage. Both the voter, and the candidate need to approach the electoral system with integrity. We the masses bare the brunt of bad leadership,so we should also have the bigger say,or "gravitas"to kick them out when they dont deliver. That's why I say the masses have to do better.
Finally to quote Martin Luther KIng,"those who remain silent in the face of injustice become collaborators".See where Iam coming from?

Ndugu @ Maxiley:

Do you remember what happened on March 24, 2015 when a German pilot on medication locked himself in a cockpit and refused to open the door when the captain tried to get back to the cockpit after using the restroom? The plane descended rapidly and crushed on the Alps mountain in France!

This pilot was on medication and the doctors had advised him not to fly but kept the information confidential as our European brothers and sisters like to do!. Everybody on Flight 9525-Airbus A 320 -211 perished.

Had the passengers known in advance that this particular pilot was on medication and had been restricted from flying, they would not have boarded this deadly flight.

WAFULA CHEBUKATI is like the doctors who kept the information of the sick pilot secretive and made it possible for the misinformed passengers to board this deadly flight. Ndugu Maxiley, I have a question for you: Do you blame the passengers, the doctors who kept the information about the sick pilot confidential, the airliner, or the pilot?

Maxiley (not verified)     Fri, 02/05/2021 @ 01:44am

Yes a vaguely recall it. Wow, I wish the pilot was an accountant. But Since you asked me who takes the blame from the given "facts",my answer is the doctor.
See this doctor patient confidentiality is not just black and white so to speak. If adoctor feels that the patient might cause imminent danger to the public,he has a moral duty to report to authority who in turn seek a warrant to avert the danger.
Even if he violets the confidentiality clause, acomplaint has to be made to the right authority. But should the case to court, the doctor has to prove that the disclosure was necessary. That's how the supreme court has ruled in USA.
Think of it this way, morally ofcouse. If the doctor determines that the pilot might not be fit to fly or is impaired, and also learns that the pilot is flying a plane that will carry his family, what do you think he should do?

Ndugu @ Maxiley:

The above video clip captures the moment before the German Wings Flight 9525 crushed into the Alps mountain in France.
You asked me this question, "...If the doctor determines that the pilot might not be fit to fly or is impaired, and also learns that the pilot is flying a plane that will carry his family, what do you think he should do?"
I do not have a rational response to your valid question simply because I do not believe in secrets and privacy as our European brothers and sisters do. I have an acronym to capture this challenging question:
S.A.L.A.D
Secrets
And
Lies
Are
Deadly. I do not believe in "salad." Therefore, what happened to this deadly flight based on secrets does not exist in my "worldview."

@ Ndugu I mara Daima, asante.for refreshing my memory with that clip. That was horrible to say the least.
One thing i can say is that we all want good leadership in Kenya. We also want our leaders held accountable. We also agree that crooked public servants should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.We as asociety have to keep on working on ways to do that without pullling panga to slash throats.
Iam sure on this we are on the say page. I fully agree with you that Wafula failed us big.My wish it that the silent majority wake up.

Ndugu @ Maxiley

We need to focus on finding solutions to our daily challenges of life instead of talking about our daily challenges in our lives.

HOW TO END RAMPANT CORRUPTION IN KENYA;

1. Once it has been established beyond any reasonable
doubt that one government employee/official has been
involved in corruption, his/her property
must be seized by the government and later auctioned
to the public.
2. The illegally acquired property includes, land,
personal houses, rental properties owned
by the corrupt individual, bank accounts including
all private businesses and all personal vehicles.
3. Any form of bribery practiced by any government
employee must be approached the same way as number 2.
4. Any police officer soliciting any kind of bribery
must face 2 consequences.
5. Any politician dishing money out to the masses in order to be elected by the people should face consequences #2.
I remember my American teacher who taught me in my Intermediate School years many years ago in Kenya once said: "Make Your Better Best."
Let us all make Kenya a paradise on planet earth so that many our kidnapped Africans who were sold into slavery many years ago can come back and find our Kenya better than the places where they grew up as slaves
