Starehe MP Charles 'Jaguar' Kanyi Dismisses Uhuru’s Call for Leaders to Take Pay Cut

Starehe MP Charles Njagua Kanyi, alias ‘Jaguar’, has dismissed President Kenyatta’s call on leaders to take pay cuts to raise funds for fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Jaguar said he will not have his salary slashed but he will instead donate directly to residents of Starehe Constituency.

He termed the taking of pay cut by leaders as a public relations gimmick adding that he will not give his salary to “bureaucrats.” Jaguar shared photos of water tanks that he is set to distribute to residents of Starehe.

“I represent Starehe. Everything I do as an MP is for the benefit of my constituents.”

“I will not do things for PR like giving my salary to bureaucrats. I will give it directly to the people who elected me. I have bought water tanks & food for the poor. I will do more.”

On Wednesday, President Uhuru announced he and Deputy President William Ruto will take 80 percent pay cut to free up funds for combating Covid-19 and urged leaders in other arms of the government to follow suit.

Cabinet Secretaries and Chief Administrative Secretaries will also have their monthly pay reduced by 30 while that of Principal Secretaries will be trimmed by 20 percent.

In line with Uhuru’s recommendation, National Assembly and Senate speakers Justin Muturi and Ken Lusaka, as well as Chief Justice David Maraga, announced they will have their salaries reduced by 30 percent.

The MP is just living to his traditional name for the love for money! He won’t do anything to help a worthy cause. It is always about “Kanyi”!

For your information Njangua, you are a Kenyan citizen first, then an MPig for a small place called Starehe within Kenya!

Mafi ya Kuku like Mzee Kibaki would call your selfish ass! Wewe ni mtu wa kula pombe tu!

What ever happened to our Gikuyu men? In the old days, they responded in kind whenever they were called upon to help. They gave the fattest @he” goat with blemish” as a sacrifice. In those days, you could fully count on our men! This man Kanyi will not give a single penny to his constituents in the hour of need; believe me my gut feelings simply tells me so.

This is where Kenyans get caught up in a cross-roads of thoughts, and find it difficult to find a forked road to take (short or long); hopefully to justify Kanyi’s behavior.

Imagine that MP Babu has given 50% of his pay to help any body regardless of his severe shortcomings of shooting a DJ!

But Kanyi won’t heed a national call to give back just a little bit of tax payers money to help in times of crisis!

Wow, at this point, I take Babu because I know his really bad lapse of judgment have taught him. For Kanyi, a mere typical Gikuyu man whose life is purely wrapped around material wealth and greed. This one Kanyi should never be allowed to enter the parliament building. He is a cursed man; I mean he is full of abominations.

I would take Babu any day as he continues to seek Heavenly forgiveness for his shortcomings, and he continues to show a generous heart!

Kanyi is the posta boy of electing young kids who are not battle tested to understand a National call to help others.

He is in parliament to enrich himself and make a name for himself. Kenyans should stop buying his music immediately and boycott anything with “jaguar label” on it. Our money have power to lender this kind of fool destitute.

This is another one who will be voted out of parliament.

Kanyi - Give something to the nation or we will ex- communicate you with a curse! You don’t turn a blind eye in the moment of a dire need!

The people of starehe were given a choice and they chose jaguar. The first thing he did is release a song in praise of uhuru. If they don't like his antics they will vote him out.

Even after the virus is defeated, those salaries should remain at that level. The poor Kenyan taxpayers, pay you too much. If you can survive on less in a crisis, you can manage even when the times have changed. I hope when things return to normal, you will not start to steal to compensate for what you gave away.

Jaguar is selfish. As long as his children are eating, the rest of the children out there can die...what kind of patriotism is this. No wonder, he’s just a third rate politician. Do these guys understand policy let alone make one? What he knows best is to physically attack others in parliament.

May all the free tax money you are taking from us vex your stomach like a bad ghost! Never will vote for you again! Wake up Starehe!

Makofi ...esp if true that the BBI shi* had such a price tag.

We waste tax payer money on useless endeavors then try to pretend we care by “cutting” our pay. #wajinga sisi. Covid does not care.

@halisi - no one is forcing your man to give! You should give anything to anybody either! Put it all in your big stomach and start singing, ‘don’t worry, be happy, the Lord got the whole world in His big Hands sort of thing”! And surely all this will come to pass with you or Kanyi not giving!

Why not have every other no pay for all coronavirus treatment in their counties. They are given allotted health services money through the CDF fund.

Sometimes it’s pricey to keep your mouth shut than to keeping on gripping over your baby’s spilt milk! Don’t give because we know you got none left to give!

Just too bad when men got to be lectured by those who look up to them.

@Jaguar you got my support. What are they going to do with the monies donated anyway? They have no plan at all but to steal and steal. Why can't they return the dam money, SGR money and give it to the poor? These wazees deserve no respect from young jaguar for they are moochers of the hard sweat and blood of the real hustlers. Washindwe kabisa!

Surely you are talking to the wrong man! He is part of the broken system. He drinks wine at night and preaches water in the day. No one wants his tainted money!

He got a share of the Dams money from the mother of all hustlers; the DP Ruto!

You ask what the money sacrificed will be used for? Possibly to buy you a nice purple suit so you can join the hustler’s club in style; looking all dolled up and pretty like a girly-man!!
