MP Moses Kuria's Brother Among Relatives Illegally Awarded KSh100 Million Tenders

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria could find himself in trouble with authorities after new details merged showing that he awarded multi-million-shilling contracts to members of his family contrary to the law.

Moses Kuria's brother, Aloise Kinyanjui Kuria, is among the MP’s close relatives that were allegedly awarded Constituency Development Funds (CDF) tenders amounting to KSh100 million, according to a report by Daily Nation.

Finish Line Construction Ltd, a company that Aloise co-owns with Mr. Sammy Kamau, is among 14 companies that were awarded 31 contracts from the Gatundu South Constituency Development Fund (CDF) kitty in Kuria's first term as MP. The company, which was established in October 2014, was allegedly paid KSh5.7 million to build four classrooms at Ituuru High School.

Further to this, the company tenders for works at Wamwangi, Karinga, Githaruru and Gikure Secondary Schools in 2015. A search at the company registry revealed that Aloise owns 50 percent of the company with Sammy Kamau owning the remaining half.

Sources told Daily Nation that Aloise, who is an officer at Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kiambu County, was often seen around the Gatundu South NG-CDF office. It was alleged that although he was not a member of the CDF committee, he was quite influential in its affairs.

Chapter 12 of the Public Officer Ethics Act bars a public officer "from awarding a contract or influencing the award of a contract to himself, a spouse or relative, business associate or a corporation, partnership or any other body which the officer has an interest."

Contacted for comment on the claims, MP Kuria said he does not sit on the CDF committee and as such, could not be blamed for the suspicious tender awards.

"The National-Government Constituency Development Fund Act does not allow MPs to be in charge of the fund, meaning they are not involved in the management of CDF. I don't understand why I'm being linked to the dishing out of CDF contracts.”

“Each of the 290 constituencies has a CDF management committee inaugurated by the National Assembly and which oversees the day-to-day running of the fund," he responded.

Other MP Kuria’s relatives who allegedly won tenders through their companies include James Kogi Kuria, John Ngigi Kuria, Stanley Kuria Ngugi, Stephen Kamau Wamutwe and Jane Wambui Kuria.

There is a lot of witch hunt that is going on in Kenya. In fact, every Kenyan should be worried because of what is going behind the scene. The so called war on corruption is not really a war on corruption but a war on DP Ruto with those close to him being collateral damages. The outcome of 2022 Presidential election is already pre-determined and BBI is only being used as a pretext. As I stated early when the handshake was announced, the agreement between the two Kenyan power brokers was made to lock out Ruto's presidential ambition. State machineries is being used to facilitate that outcome and anyone that will be perceived as Ruto's ally or sympathizer will be rooted out. State House operatives are working day and night to identify and neutralize potential entities that may hinder that objective. Hence dilemmas facing Sonko, Kuria, Miguna. Kiunjuri and a host of other politicians. Meanwhile the little democracy Kenyans have achieved in the past few years is being eroded because a new pattern of governancy is being created that will most likely be replicated by the future leaders. The ruling regime seem to be sought sighted and appear not to have learned anything in history(Disclaimer: I am not a fun of either Ruto or Raila and I believe none of them should lead Kenya. They have too much of Kenyan blood in their hands)

He has revisited Musando murder in the recent past to create a side drama to over-shadow the issue of stealing the CDF money with his whole family.

Kuria is hiding in the Ruto Tanga Tanga camp because that is where all the thieves find solace of claiming political witch hunt once they are caught stealing!

@kuria - misuse and possible embezzlement of public funds (the CDF kitty) is unacceptable!

Are you still angry with Uhuru now that your plunders of people’s money is slowly getting revealed?

Waititu and Sonko have done the same thing you have done; stealing from the coffers through family members!

Now to DP Ruto - every one you seem to align yourself with has a “checkered” character in the way they meddle in CDF money or the public coffers in general - Rotich is a good example.

Can the DP Ruto now explain to Kenyans why he has such an appetite to have corrupt friends hanging around him? What is your take in the new development with MP Kuria, and do you think he should be prosecuted?

I used to be a member of Tanga Tanga, because of Ruto's contribution in 2013 and 2017. But when he publicly acknowledged that he is Campaigning for 2022, l decamped. It is disrespectful to Campaign for Office, when your boss is still there. It is like a child fighting for Inheritance, when the Dad is still alive. It does happen anywhere in the world.
