Three female suspects were on Wednesday arrested with fake foreign currency amounting to Sh102 million.

The three; Rose Wambui, Mary Muthoni, and Tabitha Muhuha were found with the counterfeit money in a house in Githurai Kimbo, Ruiru following an intelligence-led operation.

The money, which was in 100 fake Euro denominations, had been stashed in a strongly locked safe box, according to Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

“A thorough search in the house occupied by the three ladies led the detectives to a suspicious strongly locked Safe Box. They managed to unlock it later & found the over 880,090 Euros (fake) in 100 denominations,” said DCI in a statement.

Speaking after the operation, Kiambu County Commissioner Wilson Wanyanga cautioned Kenyans to be aware of fake notes that are currently in circulation in the country.

The three suspects were taken to Ruiru Police Station pending arraignment in court. Detectives launched further investigations into the discovery.
