US to Ban over 100 Kenyans Implicated in Graft

The US Embassy in Nairobi has reportedly compiled a list of top Kenyan corrupt officials who are set to be blacklisted from traveling to the United States.

The Star reported that the list of more than 100 public figures accused of engaging in graft was made by immediate former US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec but was never forwarded to Washington.

New US envoy Kyle McCarter retrieved the list and is set to send the names to Washington for blacklisting.

The publication also said that Ambassador McCarter is planning to add more names of corrupt Kenyan individuals to the list.

“The ambassador wants more evidence touching on those mentioned so far. And he is also hoping there will be more high profile names once the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji approves charges in the Arror and Kimwarer dams investigations,” a US Embassy official told the Star.

The list comprises of officials from the national and county governments as well as former and serving State corporations chiefs.

This month, Ambassador McCarter said Kenyans implicated in corruption would not be allowed to visit the US.

He also said their family members would be denied entry into the US and their children block from schooling there.

"You cannot allow somebody to steal Sh20 billion and fine them Sh10 billion. We deal with thieves in a very brutal way, not even according to the law," he said.

“Somehow, we tolerate the theft of billions in Kenya. If we stop tolerating thievery, Kenya will be a shining star for democracy and prosperity in Africa."

Bwana ambassador, we've been down this road before and it didn't help. We had a US travel ban on: cabinet minister Chris Murungaru, also, Jimmy Wanjigi, Alfred Getonga, Deepak Kamani, Anura Perera (ref: Voa.com,2009) and nothing changed and no one went to prison. Am sure all the aforementioned are still enjoying their loot and freely traveling abroad including US. If you've good intentions in helping us, (which is hard to believe knowing all the atrocities all of you Caucasians have perpetrated against Africans- read the Confessions of an economic hit man by John Perkins) then you should: freeze all their bank accounts and seize all their properties in US; you should, through your influence help freeze all other accounts these corrupt criminals have in European nations and offshore islands. And since you know who they are, help us have them prosecuted and imprisoned. You can do this by warning our corrupt judicial system against their justice for the highest bidder motif. Even these judges who frustrate justice when we need it most should be admonished.

The other day I was consumed by thoughts of hanging myself all because of Waititu's enormous wealth. What saved me from the rope was the fact that Waititu has not disclosed his net worthy. I am extremely jealousy of both Waititu and Sonko because of what they are able to do and I can't. Waititu managed to turn a garbage collection business into over 100 billion shillings empire. Sonko started up with three Matatu business few years ago and is now worthy over a trillion shillings. In fact, Sonko is so rich that nowadays he only wears gold shoes. I am a former Matatu and garbage collection entrepreneur myself and had to shift my entrepreneurship in order to make my ends meet. Could their success be attributed to the fact that they went to the same high school? And what about Moses Watengula? The man is capable of turning metal into gold. Where did I go wrong?

Way to go Mr Ambassador. Include their wives, husbands and children too. We might have in the new ambassador somebody fighting corruption. He appears to care more about Kenya than kenyans themselves. Very sad

This ambassador is talking too much and doing too little. Besides we have heard his kind of story before and nothing happened. He should stop playing politics, ensure those regular Kenyans denied visitors visas to America get their money ksh 40k back because what US embassy has been doing to poor Kenyans is fleecing of their money. This is nothing but thievery in broad daylight. Stop pretending you care for Kenyans while the US banks are busy accepting all the stolen tax payers money. Just stop.

Great move Bwana McCarter! Am tired of seeing the kids of these thieves driving big cars and living arrogantly here in States with stolen money!

Mr. Ambassador, you sound like you have the interest of Kenyans at heart. If Iam correct, please post the list you have at MWAKILISHI,and even put a disclaimer that the list is not conclusive pending further information. We can deal with that. And later follow it up with afinalized list.

Mr. Ambassador, the truth is you and your people do not care and have never cared about the so called "Blacks" anywhere in the world. Not in Africa and not in your homeland. Corruption against blacks has existed even before slavery (Roman Empire against Israelites). Just like your forefathers came with the Bible on one hand and a gun on the other. You are talking about banning our leaders who are stealing from our people to appear as helping but how much do our people loose to your embassy in paperwork (applications) that lead to no where. Why don't you start there, that only when real service is given and completed then they are asked to pay. How much have you taken from our people in the name of Visas.
"My people die for lack of knowledge ". Nature has its ways. We should know by now. Any time a "so called white man" tells the "so called black" man to go North, the black man need to go South in a hurry. That North always come with traps and strings attached.
Kenyan's, wake up and find your own righteous path.

@Anonymous UI the way the world is ordered is that nobody cares about anybody else. It's each man for himself and God for us all. Why on earth should you think that Americans have a duty to take care of Africans?
