MCA Charged with Defiling 16-Year-Old Girl, Impregnating Her

A Member of Kisii County Assembly (MCA) was on Tuesday arraigned in court where he has been charged with defiling a minor and impregnating her.
Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Denis Mikoyan, Moticho Ward MCA Evance Omwansu Mokoro alias Baraka has been charged with defiling a 16-year-old girl at Nyamarambe area in South Mugirango Constituency.
The Ward Representative is accused of sexually assaulting the minor on diverse dates between June 2016 and September 2017.
He has also been charged with a second count of committing an indecent act with a child during the same period.
The girl later gave birth to a child who is three years old now.
Officers handling the case said it took longer to arrest the Ward Rep. as he has been dodging law enforcers.
The former Kisii County Deputy Speaker has denied the charges and has been freed on a cash bail of Sh50,000 or an alternative bond of Sh200,000.
The case will resume on May 16th, 2019 when the court is expected to set the hearing date.

THATS RAPE OF A MINOR CHILD
and the courts give a bail of 20,000. We might as well go back to street justice. If she is pregnant it's only VERY simple to get the DNA. Goodnight

No need to go to the streets. The concept of Innocent until Proven Guilty is very strong, and accepted. Also, bail should not be used as a punishment. Judges should take control of their courts and expedite the hearing. Only in Kenya where judges blame lawyers for inefficiencies in their courts. If someone could give them a mirror, they would be staring at the problem.

Tough sentences are the only way to curb this menace that is catching like a bush-fire in Kenya.
How old is this man? I never understand why a grown man chooses to sleep with a child while there are so many young and beautiful girls of age .. and some actually looking for a man. Sickness or what?

It's no secret, Kisii town and it's environs is ROTTEN when women and girls are involved. Na nishasema hapa mara kadhaa take a trip to Kisii town on any given evening, with it's vibrant nightlife and witness the number of commercial sex workers- very young girls all over the place. And the men are encouraging this. I went to a local barber while visiting the town and the guy there bragging how he had just slept with a nine year old Kuria girl the previous night. When confronted he said that he got express permission from the girls mother who needed money for basic needs. Smaller towns like Nyamira and Ikonge are worse. While working on a project there, baada ya kazi going for a tusker at a local pub, you see young girls working as bar maids. Then these guys would treat them with so much disrespect you wonder whats wrong with our society. Despite being veiled by their religion, kisii women - young and old are not nurtured/respected by the men. It's sad. As for this former MCA Wacha Anyofolewe hizo kengele zake smh
