World's Most Expensive Car Unveiled

French luxury car manufacturer Bugatti has unveiled the world’s most expensive car.

The new brand, La Voiture Noire, has been unveiled at this year’s Geneva International Motor Show. Nicknamed the Batmobile, La Voiture Noire is being sold at £14 million (Sh1.867 billion), becoming the most expensive car in the globe.

The vehicle boasts six exhaust pipes, an eight-liter W16 engine, 1500-horsepower, and a top speed of 261mph.

Bugatti president Stephan Winkelmann says the car combines “extraordinary technology, aesthetics, and extreme luxury.”

The company has already sold one La Voiture Noire but the identity of the owner has not been made public.

Reports however indicate the first owner to be Ferdinand Piëch, the motoring industry tycoon whose family was the founding shareholder of the Volkswagen and Porsche empires.

Piëch, 81, a former chairman of Volkswagen, may have gotten a discount on the price tag since Bugatti is one of VW’s luxury brands.

The car is reported to have been sold to the unnamed buyer at £9.5 million.
