Police Arrest Man Behind Inciteful Tweet Warning of Ethnic Violence in 2022

Police have arrested a Kenyan social media user behind an inciteful tweet that warned of ethnic violence should a particular community fail to vote for Deputy President William Ruto in 2022.
In a statement, the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) says Dennis Kiptoo Mutai has been arrested in Kericho on Tuesday.
“Mr. Kiptoo was arrested this afternoon in Kericho town and is currently recording a statement at the DCI office in Kericho,” reads the statement from NCIC.
NCIC says Mutai, who has been on the run for six days, will be arraigned in court and charged with ethnic contempt.
“NCIC continues to condemn increasing level of ethnic and political polarization; intolerance and hooliganism during this phase of heightened 2022 succession politics. We have noted with concern that the prevailing political situation in the country is at most irresponsible, unfortunate and untenable…,” reads the statement.
“Therefore, the Commission together with other security agencies will not relent in ensuring that hatemongers face the law. We are calling on all Kenyans to embrace tolerance, restraint and respect diversity.”
In his social media post last week, the suspect warned of violence worse than one witnessed during the 2007/2008 post-election skirmishes.

Let the media also be truthful and start calling a spade a spade. Do not say a "certain community", say the "Gikuyu's". The Gikuyu's need to hear it all. One will always be well prepared when they are well informed. Do not say a certain community as if it is wrong to be a Gikuyu. A Gikuyu must be proud to be a Kenyan as much as a Luo, a Kamba, and any other community is proud to be Kenyan.Violence cannot be used to force any one individual or any community to vote for a specific person. The Gikuyu's must also put the faith in their God not in an object or an individual. Nothing will protect the Gikuyu's other than their God given knowledge and their God. Gikuyu's survived 24 years of Moi without being the government. They did not perish. Gikuyu's must not allow anyone to bad mouth the community. Gikuyu's must protect their soul.
God give Kenya leaders not politicians! God help Kenya !!!

Ndugu uliyosema si kweli. "...Gikuyu's survived 24 years of Moi without being the government..."

@Imara, so where does the Gikuyu go wrong -- putting their name(s) on the BALLOT or accepting NOMINATION?
Do you argue the same in class when you can't clench the number one slot over time? You ask the boy who beats you to not BEAT you this term? Or you ask the headmaster to start giving number one on a ROTATION basis...so that you can feel better? What happened to MERIT?

If there is a reporter or a politician in Kenya who does not know the name of any community that they are reporting about, they should not report. That is called " Fake News" otherwise before you report do your research or homework.

@JustMe: Ningependa kuona Ndugu na Dada zangu Agikuyu wakimpigia kura mtu mwingine ambaye si Mgikuyu, Unakumbuka wakati Musalia Mudavadi alipogombea urais? Alimchagua Mgikuyu (Kioni) kuwa makamu wake wa rais. Taarifa tuliyopata ni kuwa makamu huyo wake hakumpigia Musali kura!
