Why MP Moses Kuria Wants President Kenyatta to Send Home 50 Percent of Gov't Employees

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has urged President Kenyatta to take advantage of his handshake with Raila Odinga and reduce the country's huge wage bill.

Kuria says Kenyatta should take the opportunity and send home 50 percent of government workers in a bid to cut back recurrent expenditure, which he argues is too high and could throw the country into economic recession.

The MP argues that the annual wage bill must be reduced by half if the country is to realize economic growth in the future.

"We must milk the handshake to fix our economy. We must take advantage of it to reform the civil service through a massive voluntary early retirement that will retrench at least half of public workers," says Kuria.

"We can no longer bandage this wound anymore. Open the emergency room and call in the surgeon," the MP adds.

Kuria has lauded Kenyatta and Odinga for burying the hatchet, noting that their differences negatively impacted Kenya's economy in 2017.

"At a time like this last year, Kenya’s economic head was stuck in three traps. The public sector was in a trap of debt, high recurrent expenditure and lack of innovation. The private sector was in a trap of low economic activity where everything was almost grinding to a halt," he explains.

"Both the national and county governments are not paying suppliers and contractors thus choking the system. If nothing is done in 2019, a recession will kick in. We need to reflect and introspect. Ni Kubaya (all is not well)," he concludes.

Not so fast! Instead: 1. You Kuria make sure your Constituency/County CUTs down its GHOST workers. 2. The President/Vice, Senator, Governor, MCA, Women REP, and MPigs' mega salaries should be CUT in Half (50%). 3. Then let's talk about the 50% Civil servant CUT. Ama ahe Mutongoria; or is it Muthamaki?

Last time I checked Kenyatta was busy dishing out jobs to Raila's henchmen. Nobody seems to be interested in redusing the wage bill.

Kuria, I think you are a hypocrite. The other day, your fellow Mpigs were suggesting pay rises and perks. You said nothing. If you were a true politician with the country at heart, you would be advocating for reducing the pay given to Mpigs, cutting the number of parliament by half, ridding the country of unwanted reps and hundreds of MCAs, sending the useless senators home. Reducing the counties to ten at most and getting rid of corruption. Kenyan workers are poorly paid and you want them to be sent home? Do you care about their families who depend on the meager pay for food, health and education? Where were you when your friend Uhuru was mortgaging the country? Why revert to punishing the powerless when most of the money from the loans was stolen by your friends? If you have nothing to say, keep your mouth shut. Go drink and party and let girls fight over you.

Kuria, I hate your trace demagogue expression. You need to educate the public on our bogus constitution and the effect it has on Uhuru's leadership. The answer to wage bill lies there.

Kuria does not deserve our space and time...it's like rolling with the pigs in the gutters. We all know in practice his proposal would mean those who will lose their jobs are the genuine workers. The rest will be the ghost ones, related to so and so.....in effect punishing the innocent and poor. Shindwe!
