Deputy President William Ruto to Graduate with PhD from University of Nairobi

Deputy President William Ruto is next month set to graduate with a doctorate degree from the University of Nairobi (UoN).

This comes after the institution's senate approved his name and those of six other PhD students for graduation, Daily Nation reports.

The Deputy President has been pursuing a PhD at the institution since August 2012 and was set to graduate in 2016 but was left out after failing to meet requirements.

He will be awarded a PhD in plant ecology after successfully defending his thesis titled "Influence of human activities on land use changes on environmental quality of riparian ecosystems: A case study of Saiwa Swamp watershed, Western Kenya."

Ruto has already published his work in two journals; International Journal of Research in Environmental Science and the Asian Journal of Water, Environment and Pollution, as required by the Commission for University Education (CUE).

The UoN's 60th graduation ceremony will be held on December 21st where Ruto and other students from the faculties of health sciences, and humanities will graduate.

Those to graduate with PhD alongside Ruto include Victoria Ameoliza Gioto, Victor Muya Ndambuki, Cheronoh Fancy, Museleku Erastus Kiita, Jacob Kwamina Dodoo and Samso Samuel Ogallah.

The Deputy President holds an undergraduate degree in Botany and Zoology and a masters in Environmental Science from the same university.

@Guest1, must you hate on everything, or comment on everything for that matter? Don't know how he has done it with his busy schedule, but good luck to him. Personally, after a certain age and having gone through books, I can honestly say I never ever want to see another book or produce another paper in my life! That is, unless of course there is some coins attached to the project...…. or read for pleasure. (Kids, please don't listen to aunty Sukari! Books pay off eventually, just done with "studying" personally!).

@sukari, arap Kutangatanga has spent the last one year inspecting development projects almost 24/7. May be for avoidance of doubts, he may have to defend his thesis publicly on national TV. But for sure the boy is brilliant.

Uhuru must have been impressed with his guts for looting all of the above, in political, wealthy and now education.
This is beyond the ordinary surely it needs through investigations cause time factor does not tick like that - unless it could be the 9th wonder of the world.

Kumaliza Phd sio shida. Swali ni what did he add to the body of knowledge?
