Migori Governor Okoth Obado Speaks After Release from Jail

Embattled Migori Governor Okoth Obado has spoken following his release from jail on Thursday.

The Governor has thanked everyone who stood with him when he was being incarcerated and promised to strictly adhere to bail conditions issued by High Court Justice Jessie Lesiit.

He has also assured Migori residents that he remains committed to fulfilling what he promised them during elections.

"Let me take this opportunity to thank the People of Migori, Members of the County Assembly of Migori, the Staff of the County Government of Migori, my supporters, my legal team, friends and my family for standing with me during this trying moment."

"I also thank the court for listening to our request and granting me the bail. This has now given me opportunity to effectively work for the people of Migori as their governor. I promise to respect the court and abide by the conditions it set," Obado says in a statement on social media.

Obado is charged with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno and her seven-month-old unborn baby.

He was freed on a Sh5 million bail and two sureties of similar amount on Wednesday after spending a month behind bars. He was being held at the Industrial Area Remand Prison in Nairobi.

Will he trully put his full heart into working for the people of migori knowing that he might be in jail for along time...or hang.
He should be preaching to the people the evils of straying in your marriage, corruption, and trying to "erase" evidence, and committing capital offense .

The blood of the innocent Sharon and the baby will follow up with all the killers and will never give them peace. Some people out there think others were created by mistake and that others are just there to watch them dwell the way they want and think they have the rights to eliminate others. This is wrong and the killers must think twice. Now what is the lives look like for the poor deceased children. May be the infant killed was tomorrows governor. Shame on the killers!!!
