Referendum is a Plot to Make Uhuru Kenyatta Kenya's Prime Minister in 2022, Miguna Miguna Claims
Deported Kenyan lawyer Miguna Miguna has voiced his opinion in the referendum debate that continues to gather pace in Kenya.
The self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general rubbished calls for referendum, noting that the vote is meant to further the interests of Kenyan political dynasties.
The firebrand lawyer claimed that the push for referendum is a scheme by opposition leader Raila Odinga and President Kenyatta to extend their stay in power.
He said the handshake deal between the two was meant to prepare Kenyans to introduce changes to the 2010 Constitution and create the Prime Minister position for Kenyatta as Raila becomes President in 2022.
"The handshake is a plan to extend Uhuru Kenyatta's tyranny via a referendum which will turn him into an all powerful prime minister," read part of Miguna's tweet.
He said the plot is similar to Russia's alternation of President Vladmir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in the two top offices and urged Kenyans to reject the move.
"This agenda must be defeated by Kenyans. We want a change to stop this," Miguna added.
On Saturday, the push for referendum received a boost after Deputy President William Ruto, who earlier opposed the vote, said he's ready for it.
“…We are ready for referendum. Wale wa kupunguza mzigo na wale wa kuongeza wakubaliane ni nini wanataka…waseme tarehe, wasema watukubali matokeo… sisi tuko na kura,” Ruto said on Saturday.

Why a referendum to Amend the constitution to fix the “Top” which does not need fixing?

....and going with your statement, how would you convince high tax base counties to allow money to be divided at the national level to counties that pay little in tax? For example, Kirinyaga County which is the least developed in Central Kenya, pays more tax than four combined counties in some regions of the country. Southern Sudan seceded and advocated for self determination and they have oil!

The council of governors would have to be a bunch of castrated men, wifeless and practicing Buddhism aka eunuchs or monks for the idea to be successful. They would have to be selected by a highly qualified group(doubt they are born yet) because the electorate has proved to be incompetent in electing leaders.
