Governor Mike Sonko Dares Nairobi MCAs to Impeach Him

Governor Mike Sonko has dared Members of the Nairobi County Assembly (MCAs) to make good their threats of impeaching him.

Speaking at his rural home in Mua Hills, Machakos County, Sonko said he will not be intimidated by threats to oust him and vowed not to give in to the Ward Representatives' demands.

This came after the MCAs issued a two-week ultimatum to Sonko to stop running Nairobi from his Machakos home and return to his office based in City Hall, failure to which they would institute the process of removing him from office like they did to Speaker Beatrice Elachi.

“I will never leave my rural home.My father comes from Machakos County. From Nairobi to this place (Mua Hills) is barely 25 minutes’ drive. I will not leave this place because it is my home. Even President Uhuru Kenyatta operates from State House. He does not always operate from Harambee House,” said Sonko.

“I wouldn’t be intimidated like Elachi. Impeachment of Elachi ends at the Assembly, mine doesn’t end from there, there are procedures involved,” added Sonko.

Sonko has reportedly been working from his residence in Machakos since May when he claimed that there were attempts on his life.

The MCAs also demanded that Sonko nominates a Deputy Governor with immediate effect. The position fell vacant after resignation of Polycarp Igathe in January, 2018.

Sonko you can operate from wherever but don't expect people to come to you because that is a waste of time and tax payers money.
