President Uhuru Kenyatta has officially flagged off the 100 Cuban doctors to the 47 counties after they completed an induction at the Government School of Science in Nairobi.
The medics arrived in the country on June 6th amid a court case challenging their hiring. Three jobless medics had filed the case at the Employment and Labor Relations Court, arguing that Kenyan doctors should have been given first priority.
On June 19th, Employment and Labor Relations Court's Justice Onesmus Makau dismissed the case saying: “The petitioners have not proved that the doctors rights and the rights of other specialized doctors were infringed by the decision to import the Cuban doctors.”
This cleared the way for the deployment of the Cuban medical specialists to hospitals and health centres across all the 47 counties. The specialists include three radiologists, 5 nephrologists, orthopaedic surgeons, plastic surgeons and neurologists.
The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) was also opposed to the recruitment of the medics from the Caribbean nation, arguing that it will cost Kenyan taxpayers billions of shillings.
“Cuban Doctors will cost the taxpayer more than Sh2 billion without the additional expenses of security, transport, housing and food by the county governments,” the union Secretary-General Ouma Oluga said.
President Uhuru flagged of the medics and also launched the 100-day Accelerated National Immunization Campaign at the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) Warehouse in Industrial Area, Nairobi on Wednesday afternoon.

Bienvenido a Kenya médicos Cubanos. Una llamada de atención a los médicos de Kenia.
Kenyans doctor and nurse's will learn free practicals.
Kenya has Good doctors; with Very good Nurses to boot. But SOME of these Doctors are very Corrupt and Negligent as Hell. But: Bravo to Kenyan Nurses; they're the BALM (of Gilead) for the Sick and Suffering poor Kenyans. Kenyan Nurses have been the Goid Samaritans. God Bless these Nurses (Dressers).
Cuban doctors or not, Kenyan taxpayers still lose more than that "..Sh2 billion..." through GRAFT and MISDIAGNOSES anyway.
Let the Kenyan taxpayer WIN!
We have a lot of educated fools in Kenya. We need help quickly.
Correct about Kenyan doctors; some of them Educated Fools even QUACKS (like one "Dr" Kamau in KAKAMEGA Town who Committed SUICIDE in 2017 when he was "Caught Pants Down" doing QUACK Surgeries). But Kenyan Nurses are Good I am telling you.
Welcome in our country Cuban doctors,my brother died this month in Nanyuki referral hospital due to a doctor's neglegence, refusing to administer blood saying she can't spend the damn night doing blood transfusion for it takes long, come on now, no one should complain that the government is hiring Cuban doctors, most of our doctors are not willing to do their job,let the Cuban doctors show you how to do your job Kenyan doctors as per the doctor's oaths, Congrats Mr President, bring more and more,my brother Sammi could not have died before his time if a real doctor was present
Sorry for your loss Susan it is heartbreaking. I did not know doctors give blood in Kenya. I thought nurses do.

Mheshimiwa Daud:
You must be an "Angloholic." This is a person who believes that in order to communicate, you must use the Kenyan "colonial and slave language" the English language.
For your information, I am a polyglot and I am not a slave of your "English language." Name calling exposes the kind of person that you are!
Have a nice day. Yooichinichiwo - Japanese
Mheshimiwa @Mugikuyu:
"Tagai wana" is not Spanish. It is Gikuyu language. There is a spelling error: it should be, "Tigai wana."
I give you that. You are truly polylingual. I blame it on the autocorrect.
A lesson to the Kenyan doctor's who are on government payroll but work in their private clinics. If you'be ever watched a documentary on Cuban doctors, they are very dedicated to their job. We are tired of waiting money on non-performing kenyan doctors
The unknown factor that should be considered seriouly is what will happen when the cubans eventually leave? Are we gonna go back to where we were before they came, minus a chunk of money?Yes even one life ,or beneficial work from them ofcourse will be appreciated, but they are visitors. What is the long term plan ?
Senoras y senores de Cuba:
Bienvenido a los hermanos y hermanas de Kenia. Sentirse como en casa en Kenia.
