Omondi Wins Jubilee Party Ticket in Kiambu County

Cyrus Omondi has clinched the most sought after Jubilee Party ticket in the just concluded nominations exercise in the country.

Omondi was declared the winner of the Kahawa Wendani ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in Ruiru constituency, Kiambu County.

The 35-year-old businessman and father of two edged out the incumbent MCA Michael Waweru after garnering 273 against Waweru's 190 votes.

Omondi was initially contesting the seat on an Orange Democtratic Movement (ODM) ticket but was convinced by his supporters to join and contest with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party. “I decided to follow them and registered with the Jubilee Party,” he said.

It is almost impossible for non-locals to be elected in a region dominated by one community, but Omondi defied the odds to clinch the coveted ticket.

Omondi's campaign slogan 'Tokelezea na Cyro' became an anthem for most youths in the region, leading to his popularity and eventual win in the primary election.

Omondi  was born and brought up in Kahawa Wendani where his father was a soldier at the nearby Kahawa barracks.
