DCI detectives recovered Sh52,000 from one of the seven teenage girls who had been reported missing from their homes in Nairobi last week.

The teenagers aged between 14 and 16 reunited with their families over the weekend after they were rescued by police.

During interrogation, the girl told detectives from the Child Protection unit that the group had saved the money for a secret trip to Malindi, where they would camp until schools reopen in January, Citizen TV reported.

The schoolgirls are said to have disclosed the events leading to their disappearance and how they were lured into what police believe is a sex trafficking syndicate.

A source privy to the investigations said the minors confessed they spent the night at a house in Buruburu alongside 16 other girls and four men.

The following day, they were picked by random men with the host identified only as Alex moving one of the girls to his brother’s house in Thika.

In Thika, the girl was joined by two of her friends for partying but one of them escaped from the home after she was allegedly mistreated. She went to Githurai, where she lived with a male friend.

It emerged that the girls used to move from Thika to Buruburu and Kiambu to attend parties where they were served drugs and alcoholic drinks. The rescued girls underwent a medical examination on Saturday.

Detectives are also investigating the ‘Carty Gang’, a group of nine high school boys who reside in Komarock area. The nine are said to have actively participated in the recruitment of girls.

Prostitution. The 52K is what she was paid for sleeping with men. Who was the madam of the house?

So the girls are accustomed to partying and the parents didn’t kill them?
