Nairobi Hawker Who Sold Chewing Gums to President Uhuru in 2017 Finally Receives His Sh40 [VIDEO]

A Nairobi hawker who sold some chewing gums to President Kenyatta in 2017 but was not paid has finally received his Sh40.

The street vendor identified as Dennis Wachira has met Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, who has settled the debt on behalf of President Kenyatta.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, the man is seen at PS Kibicho's office receiving his Sh40 as he narrates his problems to the government official.

One year ago this may well have been half of the man's entire stock. For one year he lost a business opportunity by selling on credit. He should have carried with him the sign that says "hakuna deni kuja kesho". So he deserves interest, compensation for loss of business opportunity, the "embarrassment" of asking for his one-year-old deni, lack of access to the person he sold to (badala akuje tuongee anatuma watu wengine hata siwajui!), the anguish of seeing his debtor spend millions on buying for "others" railroads, planes, bridges, schools, hospitals, paying doctors, teachers, senators, governors, MCA , but not sparing a cent for his deeds. With a good PR representation this vendor can come up with some hilarious and fictitious compensation "claims" to be famous. After the compensation, then the man may pay kanju fees for selling on the streets. Jokes aside pay this for the goodwill not the chewing gum. Or this is your way of deterring future copycats?I get it now.
