Blinken Extends Congratulations to Mudavadi on New CS Role

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently discussed various topics related to Kenya-US relations and areas of shared interest, such as regional peace and security.

In a subsequent announcement, it was highlighted that the call had yielded significant advancements in bolstering the strategic alliance between the two nations and a shared dedication to advancing this connection. The leaders concurred to sustain frequent discussions at various tiers. Moreover, they recognized the enduring and prosperous alliance between Kenya and the United States, founded on reciprocal respect and mutual prosperity.

Blinken seized the chance to extend his congratulations to Mudavadi for his fresh appointment as the Foreign Minister and conveyed appreciation for Kenya's substantial contributions to global peace and stability. President William Ruto's recent alteration of the cabinet has broadened Mudavadi's responsibilities to encompass the foreign ministry which was previously under the control of Alfred Mutua, who has now been reassigned to the Tourism sector. The act of designating a fresh responsibility for Mudavadi serves the purpose of promoting Kenya's national interests, as emphasized by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.

In their meeting, Blinken commended Kenya's dedication to taking charge of the police deployment in Haiti. They engaged in discussions about multiple initiatives aimed at tackling the crisis in Sudan, fostering peace in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, and countering extremism in Somalia. Additionally, Blinken stressed the significance of shared democratic principles and celebrated the flourishing economic alliance between the United States and Kenya, which is considered beneficial for both countries.
