Kenya Government Declares December 27th a Public Holiday

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has gazzeted December 27th, 2021 as a public holiday.
Matiang’i says the holiday is in line with the provisions of Section 2 and 4 of the Public Holidays Act (Cap 110), thus confirming the holiday by dint of Boxing Day falling on Sunday, December 26th.
Section 4 of the act states that when a Public Holiday falls on a Sunday, the first succeeding day, not being a Public Holiday, shall be declared a Public Holiday.
"The day which is globally celebrated by the exchange of gifts and engagement in sports offers another opportunity for Kenya to uphold its heritage of generosity and cultural diversity."
“All citizens are encouraged to recognize and celebrate the day in a manner that promotes family values and social cohesion,” Matiang'i said in a statement on Friday.

Declared holidays are useless!!
