Singer Jimmy Gait Ditches Music to Help Kenyans Secure Jobs Abroad
Gospel singer Jimmy Gait has broken his silence after vanishing from the limelight for months.
Speaking during an interview with Mpasho, Gait said he decided to take a break from music to focus on finding jobs for Kenyans abroad.
The 39-year-old artist felt it was time to give back to Kenyans, having done enough for himself.
"I am no longer impressed by celebrity status. I want to be celebrated because of my impact and not the clout around me. I am not interested in showbiz, People only care that you care about them," said Gait.
Gait, who now runs a recruitment agency, says he aims to place at least 10,000 Kenyans in jobs overseas in the next two years.
The ‘FuriFuri’ hit-maker helps Kenyans find jobs in the Middle East, the US, Canada, the UK, among other countries.
"Everyone goes through many phases in life, that is what am very passionate about now. I thought of what I can do to help people get good jobs, so I teamed up with good agencies abroad, where we are able to get people good jobs. My vision in the next 2 years is to create 10,000 jobs and success stories," he said.
Unlike other rogue agents who have been blamed for cases of Kenyan workers being mistreated in Gulf nations, Gait terms himself as a trustworthy person.
"I decided to provide a platform that people can trust. There is a lot of lying, fraud in such businesses. So I thought of setting up a system that people can trust. It gives me satisfaction to help families. When they are on the other side and call to thank me, I feel good."

Well said @ Mugikuyu. Running from your home to your neighbors because he has it better is akin to avoiding responsibility.What if tomorrow that neighbor becomes you?
Yes,I get it, its human to avoid"discomfort"and seek solace where ever it could be found.But encouraging your citizens to seek livehood somewhere else because your home cannot provide it speaks alot about leadership in that country.
Anyway, it would be refreshing to hear testimonies from those benefited from the musician's agency...
