Man Killed After Gunmen Spray His Car with Bullets on Thika Superhighway

A man driving a white Subaru Forester was on Tuesday afternoon shot multiple times by unknown assailants along Thika Superhighway.

The incident happened at the Gwa Kairu area in Ruiru with the vehicle, which was headed towards Juja, veering off the road.

Images shared on social media showed the car registration number KDC 010H with multiple bullet holes on the windshield, door, and window.

The man whose identity was not immediately established was reportedly blocked along the highway by two gunmen who first deflated one of his car's tyres by shooting at it before firing at him indiscriminately. They then sped off from the scene.

Confirming the incident, Juja sub-county police commander Dorothy Migarusha said the unidentified man was rushed to Thika Level 5 Hospital in critical condition.

Reports indicate the man suffered at least 10 bullet wounds. A medic later confirmed that the man died while undergoing treatment and his body was moved to General Kago Funeral Home.

Police have opened a probe into the shooting incident even as a hunt for the suspects continues.

A search on the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) portal revealed that the vehicle is registered under Lota Automotive Kenya Limited, a local used car dealer.
