Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata Contracts COVID-19 for the Second Time

Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata has gone into isolation at home after being infected with COVID-19.
On Friday, Kang’ata said this is the second time he has contracted the virus in the past eight months, having tested positive in August last year.
During the time, he was admitted to the hospital and discharged three days later to self-isolate and recover at home.
In a phone interview with Nation on Friday, the politician said the second diagnosis came on March 16th after being hospitalized for one week. He suspects he contracted the virus at a public function.
Before President Kenyatta banned all political gatherings earlier this month, Kang’ata was part of a team accompanying Deputy President William Ruto to public functions across the country.
While urging Kenyans to take caution against the disease, Kang’ata indicated that "it is now crystal clear that it is here with us, vicious and ruthless”.
"If by bad luck you get infected, you can survive like I have done, twice,” he said.
