Ruto Hits Back at President Uhuru, Says ‘Hustler’ Campaign is Here to Stay
Deputy President, William Ruto has reacted to claims that his ‘hustler’ campaign is aimed at driving a wedge between the rich and the poor.
In an apparent response to President Kenyatta, who warned that the 'hustler' narrative could ignite chaos in the country, Ruto insisted he is only championing the cause of a majority of Kenyans, who are struggling to make ends meet.
“There is a problem. People are saying the Deputy President is inciting Kenyans against each other. That he is inciting the poor. But let me tell you, I am not stupid to an extent that I can incite Kenyans,” Ruto stated.
“When I say let’s empower the bodaboda rider and the mama mboga, by giving them government money to expand their businesses, how does that amount to incitement?”
Ruto, who spoke during a funeral in Kakamega county on Saturday, vowed to continue with the 'hustle'r campaign, with a view of forming the next government.
“They think they will drive their agenda like they have done for many years. But I am telling them they should be prepared. The next government will be formed by touts, the bodaboda riders, and the mama mbogas,” he added.
He maintained that the country’s economic policy has been skewed for a long time and must be changed from top-down to bottom-up to ensure resources reach the people who need them most.

I’m a hard working guy but I hate Ruto’s label of calling ordinary Kenyans hustlers! He is making youthful Kenyans lose the sight of the principle of working hard to better themselves.
The issue of giving free wheelbarrows to the poor in the society is merely intended to keep them at the lower enchalons of the economic ladder. Would anyone sane person think that Ruto is a hustler?
Ruto is using the hustler tag to cause a rebellion in Kenya, the same way he stirred up Kenyans in 2007 where he ended up killing many innocent women and children!
Ruto is up to no good and he know exactly what he wants to gain out of the negative messages he is preaching!

@Ali we are back again here to explain the civil and tribal strive that was 2007. The whole thing was started by and like always Raila in the event that he lost election or he alleged rigging. The two principals were squarely to blame for the fracas going by international standards of blame.
@ Kim has done much to explain to you how wheelbarrow economics is that important especially during the recession caused by the COVID 19 pandemic.
It would be more beneficial if all those that are yapping could step up and provide their better alternatives. You had better remain muted if you have nothing to offer!

@ALI. I actually don't agree with you on this one. Political narratives and rhetoric are usually a reflection of the times and challenges that the masses are experiencing. With this global phenomenon of COVID 19, we all know that all around the world economies are bad. Therefore, all around the world ; the youth, the middleclass and the poor are loosing jobs and livelihoods . Therefore most governments around the world are advocating for policies that are charitable towards the poor and the middleclass. For example the multiple stimulus packages in the USA. Therefore, I think that what the jubilee political establishment is trying to do, is to have a political narrative and policy that caters to the poor( the hustlers).This is actually not bad. I think that more and more the Kenyan political establishment should come up with creative policies that are intended to help the poor. For example; 1) small business loans to hustlers (boda boda,mama mboga,makanga etc etc) 2)Grants/ cheap loans to farmers ( the more the govt invests in agriculture the more it will reap the fruits of not just good food supply for the nation but also the employment of multitudes of youth). 3) Of course the ongoing fight against corruption needs to continue in order to use tax payers money well but also to reduce grievances from the masses. 4) The Kenyan Political Establishment should of course not lose sight of Peace Politics as well, this populist movement should be led towards economic empowerment and not civil unrest. Peace is of course the golden goose of Kenyan Politics. Without peace we do not have anything.
