Kenyan Journalist Annie Njanja Bags Full Scholarship to Study at Columbia University

Kenyan journalist Annie Njanja has been awarded a full scholarship to study at Columbia University in the United States.

Njanja, who works with Nation Media Group (NMG), will enroll for a master's degree in data journalism in the prestigious New York-based ivy league university.

The award-winning journalist received many congratulatory messages from Twitter users including Nark-Kenya leader Martha Karua.

Njanja specializes in business, lifestyle, gender, and health reporting with most of her work getting published on NMG's Business Daily. She was also previously published on Uganda’s Daily Monitor.

In 2017, Njanja emerged as the public choice winner in the International Data Journalism Awards.

Njanja becomes the latest Kenyan media personality to bag a chance to study at Columbia University after BBC Journalist Larry Madowo, who graduated with a Master’s in Business and Economics Journalism from the same institution a few months ago.

Madowo was among the 10 beneficiaries of the 44th Knight-Bagehot Fellowship.
