Kenya’s Coronavirus Cases Top 5,000 as Death Toll Hits 130

The tally of Covid-19 infections in Kenya has surpassed the 5,000-mark after 254 new cases were reported on Wednesday.

The total number of cases in the country now stands at 5,206 with Nairobi County leading with 2,428 infections followed by Mombasa (1,304), and Busia (361), according to the Health Ministry.

The ministry said all the 254 new patients are all Kenyans comprising 186 males and 68 females. The youngest patient is four years old while the oldest is 92.

The new cases are distributed in the counties as follows; Nairobi (127), Mombasa (36), Migori (29), Kajiado (22), Kiambu (12), Busia (9), Uasin Gishu (5), and Murang’a (3).

Others are Machakos (2), Kilifi (2), Nakuru (1), Siaya (1), Taita Taveta (1), Garissa, (1), Isiolo (1), Kakamega, (1), Kisii (1).

41 patients were released from various treatment centers across the country, raising the total number of recoveries to 1,823.

On the other hand, the death toll from the virus increased to 130 after two more patients lost their lives in the past 24 hours. So far, Kenya has tested 151,396 samples for Covid-19.
