Kenyan Man Who Escaped After Receiving Positive Covid-19 Results Found Dead

A Kenyan man who fled his home in Mombasa’s Old Town area after testing positive for Covid-19 has been found dead.

The deceased was among five Old Town residents reported to have escaped from their homes with their families after the government banned the movement of people into and out of the populous estate on Wednesday, May 6th, to contain the spread of Covid-19.

Old Town was locked down alongside Nairobi’s Eastleigh estate due to the high rate of infection recorded in the two areas.

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho while confirming the incident said the man was found dead in a hideout together with three others whom he escaped with.

He said the three, among them one woman and two men, were taken to isolation wards for monitoring as the search for the remaining escapee continues.

“Five people tested positive here and then decided to run away. Four have now been found but one was already dead. The other one is being looked for and will be found,” said Joho.
