Sonko Moves to Reclaim Full Control of Nairobi, Vows to Terminate Takeover Deal

Embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has announced he will move to court terminate a deal that saw the national government take over key Nairobi County government functions.

Sonko, through Facebook, claimed that the takeover process has been hijacked by some national government officials in a bid to embarrass and frustrate him.

“When we started this process the President had good intentions on Nairobi but some of his greedy officers in gvt especially the ones who hate me have hijacked the process to embarrass and frustrate me with a lot of impunity,” Sonko noted.

Further to this, Sonko declared he will not sign the deed of transfer of functions, claiming that he has not been served with a copy of the document to date and does not know its contents.

“I will not sign in fact this is the time to terminate the transfer of functions deed. To date I have not been furnished with a copy of the deed,” Sonko wrote.

“I was not given sufficient time to even read the draft. I was just told it is a good thing on service delivery to the great people of Nairobi as I deal with my court cases since I love you people of Nairobi,” he added.

He admitted he made a mistake by handing over the functions to the national government and asked Nairobi residents to forgive for the blunder.

“Please forgive I will never repeat that mistake again, in fact, I’m starting the process of terminating the deed of transfer just like any other ordinary contract. I will now personally go to court to have it terminated,” said Sonko, adding that he is ready to be jailed or killed.

“Let them kill me or jail me if they want ndio waendelee na ujinga zao when I’m not your Governor.”

Sonko has named Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho and County Commissioner Wilson Njega as the officers who are out to frustrate him.

Last month, Uhuru created the office of Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) to oversee the functions transferred from the county government. Uhuru appointed Major General Mohamed Badi as the NMS director-general.

Easy! Revoke his bail and put him back in until his case is heard and determined.
I will bet you it's the millions previously being deposited into his accounts that he is missing.

Sonko you cannot have a cake and eat it too. Stop complaining that you did not read the deed. Even if you read it you will not understand.

Another thief of public funds missing the free flow of money into his bank accounts! Impeach the useless guy! How did Nairobi voters get conned like this?

This man forgot he is facing impeachment for corruption. The fact that you have sent a few care packages or revived your Sonko team does not mean the case has been forgotten. You do not have any powers you signed them away in fact uhuru was doing you a favor instead of being embarrassed publicly like Waititu the former Kiambu governor. You are no longer governor of Nairobi there are no powers to speak off
