Kenyan Chef Maliha Mohammed Breaks Guinness World Record After Cooking for 75 Hours Non-Stop

Kenyan chef Maliha Mohammed has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest time spent cooking.

Ms. Maliha, a Mombasa-based chef, cooked for 75 hours non-stop on Sunday at Kenya Bay Beach Resort in Mombasa, breaking the previous record.

The previous longest cooking marathon was achieved by Rickey Lumpkin in Los Angeles, US, in 2018. Lumpkin had cooked for 68 hours 30 minutes 01 seconds.

To make it to the Guinness Book of World Records, 36-year-old Maliha prepared a list of 400 recipes of local and international cuisines.

The mother of two’s first trial to break the record was in May this year, where she cooked 100 recipes in 36-hour non-stop.

In her second attempt in July, Ms. Maliha cooked 200 meals for 54 hours before going for the final competition which was overseen by officials from the Guinness World Record.

The food she prepared will be given to charity homes and orphanages as part of her initiative to raise awareness and to feed the less fortunate in the Kenyan coastal city.
