DP William Ruto Bribes Church Leaders to Invite Him to Harambees, Raila Claims

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has accused Deputy President William Ruto of using fundraisers to bribe the church.

Speaking on Saturday, Odinga claimed that Ruto uses looted funds to coerce church leaders to invite him for Harambees and uses the platforms to advance his political mission.

“He asks the church to invite him by using the same money that he gives those churches for Harambees and not that the church invites him willingly,” Odinga claimed.
 
Odinga, who spoke during a burial in Gem, cited an incident where DP Ruto purchased a luxury car for one of the church leaders. 

He wondered how Ruto manages to contribute hundreds of millions of shillings to different churches in the country when his monthly pay is only Sh1 million.

His sentiments were echoed by Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo, who noted that Ruto is known to be a supporter of corruption. “Kenyans know who you (Ruto) are, the wealth you have acquired,” Odhiambo said.

DP Ruto has continuously told off critics of his church donations, insisting that nothing would stop him from giving God his due.

"We have read the Bible and we have understood what we are called to do, nobody should be forced to give to God. Someone should not give us lectures on what to do," Ruto said last month.
