Kenyan Activist Boniface Mwangi Arrested in Nairobi by DCI Detectives

Nairobi-based human rights activist Boniface Mwangi has reportedly been arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

In a tweet on Monday, Mwangi says the sleuths stormed his house and whisked him away.

He says he has been taken to the Central Police Station but has not been told the reason for his arrest.

“I have been arrested by @DCI_Kenya from my house. We are headed to Central Police Station. I haven’t been told the reason for my arrest," says Mwangi on Twitter.

It is believed the arrest is linked to last week's anti-corruption protest dubbed #BeyondZeroCorruption held in Nairobi.

During the protest, police officers arrested one of the participants- Bettie Wa Shiro – who was later released after Mwangi led a group of activists in camping and lighting candles at the Central Police Station, where she was being held.

Mwangi has also been a vocal critic of the Jubilee government and recently accused President Kenyatta of messing the country.

Police are yet to release a statement regarding Mwangi's arrest.

The boy in statehouse has this as his fight against corruption. Corruption and betting industry are the only growth industries in the jubilee economy. Pathetic boy in statehouse. Tusker badala ya kazi. worst president in Kenya history.
