Migori Governor Okoth Obado Arrested Outside Hilton Hotel after Meeting with DP William Ruto

Migori Governor Okoth Obado was arrested in Nairobi on Wednesday afternoon.
Governor Obado has been arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) outside Hilton Hotel, where he had attended a meeting with Deputy President William Ruto.
The arrest comes a day after eight firearms were reportedly recovered at his homes in Migori and Nairobi. Five of the eight firearms were found at his residence in Lavington while the rest were recovered in his Migori home.
The guns were confiscated after officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) conducted a five-hour long search at his residences.
Also found during the raid are crucial documents that could aid investigations into Obado’s alleged hand in the looting of Sh2 billion from the Migori County government coffers.
Obado was driven to DCI headquarters along Kiambu Rd where he is currently being questioned.
Obado is fighting to clear his name in another case where he is charged with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno and her seven-month-old unborn baby.
The Governor was in a romantic relationship with the 26-year-old student before she was abducted and brutally killed.
