Police Boss Joseph Boinnet Disowns Nairobi’s Faceless Crime Buster 'Hessy wa Dandora'

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett has disowned Nairobi's faceless crime buster 'Hessy wa Dandora.'

In an interview with Citizen TV, Boinett describes the mysterious self-declared cop as an “excitable chap” who is not a police officer.

“I have heard of such a guy on social media. He is an excitable chap, who seems to have a lot of interest on security issues. He is not one of us,” says Boinett.

“Quite often criminals get killed and sometimes officers get killed, that is not funny at all but that is part of the occupation hazard we assume when we sign up for duty,” the police boss adds.

Hessy wa Dandora runs several Facebook pages and has gained popularity among Kenyans online with his posts often warning criminals to surrender to police or be eliminated.

In his posts, Hessy attaches photos of the alleged gangsters and sometimes images of slain criminals who 'fail to heed to his warning.'

“I had warned you against crime, now you’ve met the consequences," he captions some of the photos of dead 'gangsters'

Boinnet further says officers found to have killed innocent Kenyans will be dismissed from the service in addition to being prosecuted.

“When police kill innocent Kenyans they are investigated and prosecuted within the law. We have two cases of policemen who used unjustifiable force facing prosecution. Also, officers caught engaging in corruption will be dismissed and prosecuted like any other civilian."
