MP Moses Kuria Slams CNN Journalist Richard Quest for Posing 'Embarrassing' Questions to President Uhuru

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has slammed CNN news anchor Richard Quest for posing 'embarrassing' questions to President Kenyatta.

Kuria says that it was wrong for Quest to ask President Uhuru if he will seek to extend his stay in power when his current term expires in 2022.

The MP, who spoke to Citizen TV’s Hussein Mohamed, says such a question should be asked by local reporters and not foreign journalists like Quest.

“I think it’s very unfair for people to ask the president to answer the kind of question he had to answer to Richard Quest, to answer to a foreigner. I wish it was left to Hussein to ask him,” says Kuria.

He argues that Quest, who hosts the Quest Means Business show on CNN, shamed the country by asking Kenyatta if he will run for the presidency in 2022.

Kuria says: “My heart was bleeding that a mzungu journalist who always wants to come here and ask embarrassing question as if it was something to question about in the first place.”

During the interview recorded in Nairobi on Friday and aired on CNN on Monday, President Uhuru set the record straight that he will retire from politics once his term ends.

He also dismissed claims that he would seek to amend the constitution in order to extend his stay in power.

“People are talking about Constitutional change not necessarily that they are desirous for the president to seek a third term but because of issues related to the cost of running this Constitution,” said Kenyatta.

Kuria, you are the embarrassment. What is wrong with the question? What does the constitution say about term limits of the presidency? And why should such a question be asked by locals and not international correspondents? I don"t get it Kuria.

Kuria and you claim to stand for President that was a perfect question for an international reporter Locals we know the constitution will not allow him unless it is manipulated.. do not be a racist.. a musungu?? wrong wrong

Kuria you have reduced yourself to a puppet without a mind of his own, an irritating fly hovering around and you need to go away.

Kuria, have a seat sir! I thought he guy was far too soft on Uhuru! The questions skimmed rather than delve. Politicians need to be made accountable and no question is too much as long as one is ine in the public eye. We are borrowing far too much as a country but Uhuru is being strategic...he will not run for another term and will watch as the debt wring the whole country dry in years to come! I SEE you big brother!

Kuria,

I thought Kuria was an educated man, but he’s proving himself to be an educated fool. Uhuru is not a boy to be defended. He answered the question and did well at it. Did you want him to say he will change the constitution and run for a third term? Or who appointed you the president’s advocate? What do you understand by freedom of the press? We know you as a person who runs with his mouth. Do you have authority to point a finger at anyone? Take care of the log in your eye first.

Preach J.K, preach! These bunch of politicians are sly. I don't trust them at all. I watched with amusement their recent speeches at Mashujaa day. Although Raila brought a smile to my face with his "Canaan and mamba" joke, I feel they are a shum and having a laugh at our expense. For those who lost their loved ones in the elections, largely due to the venom spewed by these guys, it must be a slap in the face (and we are meant to believe it is all in the Christian spirit, bull!). I believe they have a strategy which will be clear in times ahead. The scapegoats among them? Can't tell, they are all suspect. Wahuni wote.
