Kiambu Begins Process of Identifying Its Own County Anthem in Sh100,000 Competition

Kiambu is set to become the first Kenyan county to have its own anthem.

In an advertisement appearing in the local newspapers, the County has invited residents to take part in a competition where the best composed piece will be selected as the official county anthem.

Winner or winners of the competition will also pocket a Sh100,000 prize. The Governor Ferdinand Waititu-led county has also invited artistes to design county's flag and coat of arms.

“Guided by the spirit of devolution and the love for our beloved County of Kiambu, the residents of Kiambu County are invited to participate in a competition for purposes of developing Kiambu County flag, Anthem and coat of Arms,” the advert reads in part.

One must be a resident of Kiambu County and the anthem must be his or her original work to be allowed to participate in the competition.
