Malik Obama: Why I Boycotted Former US President Barack Obama's Event in Kogelo

Malik Obama has revealed why he boycotted a function attended by his half brother, former United States President Barack Obama at Kogelo village, Siaya County on Monday.

The retired US President presided over the official launch of projects done by Sauti Kuu Foundation, an organization founded by his sister, Auma.

Speaking to Daily Nation, Malik said the event was an affair by two people; Barack Obama and his sister Rita Auma Obama.

"Rita Auma is not the Obama family. It was her and her brother's affair," Malik said after he was asked why he skipped the event.

"Did you see me there? No. You only saw Auma and Mama Sarah. No further comments," he added.

Malik is said to have fallen out with members of his family about two years ago when he publicly denounced Obama's Democratic Party candidate Hillary Clinton and endorsed Donald Trump, the then Republican candidate.

He also in the past accused Obama of neglecting his family in Kenya and the African continent despite using “his Kenyan roots as a strong pillar of his 2008 presidential campaigns.”

"President Obama is my brother and I love him, but he is a hypocrite. He wants nothing to do with Africa despite campaigning on a platform of helping to transform the continent,” he said at the time.

On Monday, his wife Sheila Anyango is said to have been blocked from entering Mama Sarah Obama's home in Kogelo, where the former US leader was meeting family members.

"I have no further comments," Malik said when asked for a comment about the incident.

I don't like him (Malik), but this time, its the DN reporter who sought his opinion. It's not clear why the reporter went out his way to contact Malik.

Exactly. Not sure why these national papers have been reduced to gossip columns while Chinese takeover Kenya killing our wildlife and politicians and others do the looting. Not sure who is teaching journalism classes in Kenya anymore. Mavi ya kuku.

@Malik, you and your family have lost your sense of belonging. The entire Obama clan has outcasted you as a consequence of your actions. Every Obama and their descendants were there except you and your wife was denies entry. accept that fact. Obama cares for Africa and loves Africa. Keep you opinion to yourself.

Nobody would have known him without his brother. Most foolish individual on earth. Instead of being proud of brother and be supportive, jealousy filled him like Cain and Abel..He will never be respected forever.
