NYS Probe: More Than 10 Detectives Raid Ngirita Family Home in Naivasha

Detectives have reportedly raided the home of Ngirita family located in Naivasha's posh Lake View estate for the second time, leaving a trail of destruction.

The Standard reports that the officers raided their home on Sunday, days after five members of the family were arrested in connection to the Sh9 billion scandal at the National Youth Service (NYS).

The family had late last week claimed that their lives were in danger over the ongoing case. More than 10 detectives drawn from Nairobi and Nakuru reportedly stormed their home at around 7pm and broke into septic tanks and sewer lines in the compound.

The Standard said that the officers then left in a hurry after learning that their raid had been reported to a local police station. The sleuths, who didn't explain their mission arrived at the residence in three cars and broke the main gate before gaining access to the compound, a relative who declined to be named said.

“There was no search warrant, we came to learn from neighbors that the officers were already in the compound and we suspect something sinister in the whole exercise,” said the relative.

A police officer from Naivasha station who spoke to the Standard on condition of anonymity said the detectives didn't involve or inform them about the operation.

“The officers did not involve us in their operation and we are yet to know what they looking for that late in the night,” said the officer.

Anne Ngirita was arrested alongside her mother Lucy Wambui, brother Jeremiah Gichini, sister Phyllis Njeri and sister- in- law Cate Mwai. They have been in custody since Sunday last week.

I would hope that the sleuths themselves are not corrupt. It would be a mockery and an insult to the public if some of these detectives are tainted with corruption for who is to say that they cannot not enrich themselves with valuables found in the home raised?

Could they have been there to "plant" new evidence? Maybe the Ngirita's are not cooperating in sharing the loot and this is a tactic to scare them into parting with some of the loot. Otherwise why raid a property a second time, and without a warrant?

Ok mjuaji. Can you explain why they left in hurry when they learnt that the matter had been reported to the local police. Whatever strides you claim have been made have to be done within the law...breaking it to make a stride is retrogressive...

This family should not be targeted by the government to claim it's fighting epidemic corruption engulfing the country. Why not arrest other culprits like Waiguru, Ngilu, Sonko, Kidero, Wetengula, Kalonzo and the list goes on. The truth is 99% of Kenyan billionaires got their wealth illegitimately and based on what we are reading about this family they were just following a precedent that was set long time ago

Good point, we actually haven't heard of big names being mentioned. The Ngirita's are just the small time thieves who were caught in the middle of a huge racket, possibly money being sent into their account!!! Fact is 9billion was stolen. These Ngirita's have been accused of thieving just a small fraction. Where is the rest 8.7billion? Even the press is just reporting about this family, what a freaking shame!!!! Kifumba macho and they fall for it. Kenyan press is an embrassment, just as incompetent as the gova itself.
