DP William Ruto Won't Be Kenya's President Come 2022, Martha Karua Says
Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua says she will not endorse Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, even as other leaders from the Mt Kenya region throw their weight behind him.
Karua made it clear that she doesn't believe that Ruto will succeed President Kenyatta and dismissed calls to have the Gema rally behind his bid for State House.
"Mimi sijakubali kamwe! (I do not agree at all) that Ruto will be the next president of Kenya," Karua said in a Twitter post.
The former Kirinyaga gubernatorial aspirant was responding to a tweet by another Kenyan on Twitter, Future Legacy, who had stated that voters from the region will make sure that Ruto ascends to power.
"Luckily he's doing a good job of stopping it!" she stated.
Earlier this week, Karua claimed that Ruto's security officers interfered with the Kirinyaga gubernatorial elections in August 8th,2017, which saw her lose to Anne Waiguru of Jubilee.
Testifying in her petition against Waiguru's victory at the High Court in Kerugoya, Karua said a Mr Lelasang, a senior security officer in the Office of the Deputy President, interfered with the poll.
“I was shocked because security and electoral officers are supposed to be neutral,” the Narc Kenya leader said while being cross examined by her lawyer Charles Njuru Kihara.
