Drama as Kenyans Cook Ugali Outside President Uhuru's Office

Kenyans were treated to drama after they were served with free Ugali outside President Uhuru Kenyatta’s office at Harambee House in Nairobi.

The Kenyans who had earlier held a walk in Nairobi to celebrated the move by the government to reduce the prices of maize flour to Sh90 camped outside the head of state’s office in appreciation of what they called a reprieve after enduring many days without Ugali due to high prices.

The group lit Jikos and cooked ugali, while serving those who passed nearby as they sang and danced to songs in praise of the President and the Jubilee government.

Sources told journalists that the event had been organized by Jubilee Party leaders in Nairobi to appreciate the government after the opposition coalition had taken advantage of the high prices of maize flour to discredit the Jubilee administration.

The government on Tuesday through Agriculture Cabinet Secretary announced the reduction of Unga prices after arriving at a deal with the Millers in Kenya to offer a subsidy that saw the prices lowered to Sh90 for the two-kilogram pack and Sh47 for the one-kilogram pack.

Following the price reduction to maize flour, Kenyans stormed supermarkets and shops to purchase a commodity that had become hard to afford.

President Uhuru is expected to issue an official statement regarding the high prices of commodity this week after arriving from a week tour to China and United Kingdom.
