US Re-affirms Commitment to Working with Kenya

US ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec

The United States government has reiterated its commitment to working with Kenya days after it suspended Sh2.1 billion funding to the health sector over allegations of misuse of the funds.

US ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec in a statement said that Kenya and the US have had a good relationship for many decades adding that the two countries will continue to cooperate in different sectors. "We are proud to be associated with Kenya. USA and Kenya have been friends for over 50 years, a relationship that has bound our people together through issues of socio-economic development," Godec stated.

The ambassador further promised that the US government will support Kenya in any way it can despite the challenges. "We will continue to stand with you hand in hand to work together for the betterment of Kenya," he emphasized.

Godec was speaking in Vihiga County where he launched water projects from the Ambassador's Special Help Fund.

The ambassador’s sentiments comes days after the US through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) suspended funding for activities carried out by a number of Ministry of Health departments citing unspecified conditions that were yet to be met in implementing the fund.
