Kenyans to Book Appointments to Collect e-Passports

Comment 2

The Immigration Department says Kenyans will henceforth be required to book an appointment before visiting immigration centers to pick their processed e-Passports.

In a statement on Thursday, the department said applicants wishing to collect their passports should book appointments through the e-Citizen portal in a move aimed at easing congestion in the stations.

While booking an appointment, an applicant is required to specify the date and time they wish to collect the passports, the department said.

“You will be required to book an appointment in the e-citizen portal specifying the date and time you wish to collect your passport. Please note that the passports are collected at the station where you took your biometrics,” the statement stated.

In order to collect a passport, the department said one must carry with them an appointment slip, original National ID and expired or old passport for those making replacements.

The move comes a few days after the Immigration Department issued another directive requiring Kenyans applying for a passport to first book appointment online before submitting their details for processing.

The directive, however, exempted public officials with urgent assignments abroad, sick persons, students and business executives with urgent engagements abroad.

We request the Kenya embaassy in Washington to communicate with those of us trying to get the new passports, by answering basic questions on what we should do to make it easier to get the process done.
Would it not be easier if immigration officials travel to parts of US to gather the biometrics so Kenyans dont have to spend thousands to get themselves and their families to Washington?
Can someone please help?
