Kenyan Diaspora Mourns Sudden Mid-Air Death of Roselyne Oyaro

Roselyne Oyaro, a Kenyan woman living in the United States, died suddenly after experiencing a medical emergency during a transatlantic flight from Amsterdam to the US.
Ms Oyaro, also known as Rose, had travelled to Kenya for a short visit and was returning to the US where she resided with her fiancé. She departed from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Saturday.
Her initial flight to Amsterdam proceeded without incident. However, she developed acute respiratory distress shortly after boarding her connecting KLM flight to the United States.
The flight crew declared a medical emergency, and the aircraft was diverted to Canada in an attempt to get her medical attention. Despite these efforts, she was pronounced dead before the plane could land.
Ms Oyaro was a former student of Sironga Girls High School, class of 2009. Friends and family have described her as warm, generous, and dependable. Tributes shared on social media highlight her kindness, supportive nature, and the joy she brought to those around her.
Radio presenter Victor Nyaata, a close friend, remembered her as someone he could always rely on, noting her thoughtful gestures and consistent encouragement. Her passing has deeply affected the Kenyan community abroad, many of whom maintain close ties between their countries of origin and new homes.
