US-Based Kenyan Pastor Loses Daughter While on Family Vacation in Kenya

The family of a US-based Kenyan pastor is mourning the death of their daughter who died during a vacation in Kenya.

29-year-old Grace Wairimu, the daughter of Rev. Charles Kihiko of the Calvary Evangelical Church in Dracut, Massachusetts, collapsed and died while on a vacation to Kenya on the night of Tuesday, April 28th.

The deceased had just retired to bed at the family's home in Dagoretti, Nairobi when she collapsed and became unresponsive, her family said.

She did not respond after cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed and she was rushed to Kikuyu Mission Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Family sources told Ajabu Media that Grace had underlying medical conditions, which may have caused her death.

"My dad had gone for a vacation to Kenya with my sister when they got stuck there when flights were canceled due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. They were just waiting for travel to resume so they could come back to Boston and join the rest of the family when this tragedy happened," said Timothy Kihiko, the deceased’s eldest brother.

"We are very shocked," he added.

Donations towards Grace’s funeral expenses can be channeled to Jane Kihiko via CashApp #:(978) 601-5955.
