Ugandan Pastor Commits Suicide in Massachusetts after Photos of Wife with Another Man Go Viral

A Ugandan man in Massachusetts, United States has committed suicide after reportedly learning that his wife was seeing another man.

Abel Ayinza, an adopted son of Pastor Samuel Mutyaba of New Life Christian International Church in Watertown, Massachusetts allegedly took away his life after photos of his wife with another man went viral.

Uganda's Daily Monitor reports that Ayinza had left his wife in Uganda about a month ago and photos of his wife being engaged to another man may have prompted him to commit suicide.

Police in Watertown are reportedly investigating possible suicide. Ayinza was being groomed to become a pastor at his father's church.

Mutyaba confirmed Ayinza's death on Monday but refused to blame it on anyone. “Until police furnishes us with full details, we cannot pin anyone. But all I can confirm is that Ayinza is dead and his body is in police hands,” Mr Mutyaba, who is currently in Uganda said.

“I had delegated my fellow pastor to work with police and get details on how things happened but this was declined by authorities. They demanded I must be there in person and I will let you know when all is done,” Mr Mutyaba told Daily Monitor.

Photos showed his wife only identified as Juliet donning a red gomesi while the man wore a kanzu and jacket.

“He was so depressed when photographs of his wife went viral here. The wife was being engaged to another man and it is became quite difficult for him to bear,” Mr Simple Nsereko, a Ugandan living in Boston told Daily Monitor.

“He could not believe it when news arrived here in Boston. The woman was happily seated with another man and this was too much,” another Ugandan, Ms Eva Nabawanuka said.

“I personally knew him. From Uganda he stayed with me for some days and later joined the church (New Life Christian International Church). We are saddened,” Ms Aisha Namiiro, a former journalist with Radio One.

Suicide is not the solution to any pain or problem. It's unfortunate that such stuff happens but people should seek counseling and move on with their lives. obviously that wasn't a great wife for him.

OMG what a sad event to have taken place. Very troubling news indeed. God have mercy on his soul. I wish there was intervention prior to this drastic move. I wish there was someone to talk to and share the bad news from home. So sorry to the family and friends. I have been married for some time now. I would never contemplate committing suicide because of my wife or anyone else.
