Kenya Tourism Board Officials Conduct Roadshow in US, Canada to Sell Kenya as a Tourist Destination

Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) officials have conducted a series of visits to different cities in the United States and Canada in a bid to sell Kenya as a tourism hub.

During the one-week tour to the two North American countries, the KTB team held road shows in various cities including; Toronto, New York, Boston, San Francisco and San Jose .

KTB Chief Executive Officer Betty Radier says the officials used the chance to increase awareness of national carrier Kenya Airways’ upcoming nonstop flights between Nairobi and New York.

“The KQ direct flight to the US will substantially boost Kenya’s global profile as a tourism destination as it will provide a shorter, quicker and more affordable connection for tourists and business travellers coming to Kenya,” said Radier.

The Kenyan team held meetings with over 200 American and Canadian travel firms in an attempt to create relationships that would lead to increased tourist arrivals in the country.

US remains the country's top tourist source market in the world, boasting of 11.8 percent of total arrivals to Kenya last year. 114,507 US tourists visited Kenya between January and December, 2017.

There are atleast 5 travel agencies in the city I live in.
There are over 10,000 cities in America.
Meaning there are waaay more than 50,000 cities scattered in America.
Someone explain to me what impact 200 agencies whose names are too tiny to mention would Make.?

Why agencies when people book their tickets and hotels online. Why not do everything online through advertising. If you want to do the trip target exhibition, expo, fair using small team of Kenyans in diaspora to cut expenses.
