Supporters of Kaimbaga ward Jubilee ticket winner in Ol Kalou, Mwangi Nyaga on Friday stormed jubilee offices in the area and chanted anti-Uhuru slogans, vowing to support Raila Odinga and NASA if Nyaga is denied the party’s ticket.
The rowdy supporters said that there were plans by the Jubilee Party to deny Nyaga the party ticket and issue it to his rival, Gabriel Gathure who he trounced in the recently concluded party primaries.
The irate residents brought business to a standstill in Ol Kalou town for the better part of the day after they lit bonfires outside Jubilee Party headquarters in Nyandarua along Gilgil-Nyahururu road, defacing it by painting it with ODM colors.
“We want President Uhuru to intervene, otherwise we shift our support to NASA. We nominated Mwangi Nyaga and he was declared the winner, but the party wants to deny him the certificate”, said Lawrence Mwangi.
Another resident, Samuel Karari Karari, asked NASA leader to visit the region and assure them that his leadership will be different and they will massively vote for him. ”Baba should come here,” he said.
Nyandarua Jubilee Party Deputy Secretary General, Joseph Kariuki said only Mwangi Nyaga has been issued with the JP certificate, adding that the demonstrations were sparked by individuals spreading falsehoods.
“No other candidate has the certificate, and the information that prompted this demonstration is false and misleading”. He said
