Nairobi Traffic Cop Refuses to Take Bribe from a Matatu Driver [VIDEO]

A traffic police officer has earned praise from Kenyan social media users after a video of him refusing to take a bribe from a matatu driver went viral.

In a video that was first shared by a Twitter page by the name Nairobi Updates and that immediately went viral, the officer is seen declining a bribe by a PSV driver.

The traffic cop had pulled over a bus belonging to Mwiki Sacco Limited along Thika Road when the driver disembarks and tries to offer him a bribe.

The officer is seen throwing away the note as he continues to write the charges on his notebook before leaving on his motorbike.

It's not yet clear if the driver was arraigned in court for the offence he committed but the rare conduct of the cop could be an indication that not all police officers are corrupt.

Kenyan police officers especially those from the traffic unit are known for their appetite for bribes and have in the past been ranked the most corrupt among government officials.

Has doing the right thing gone to the dogs? Why should we"celebrate" acop not taking abribe. Isn't that what
he is supposed to do. He has ajob that pays him right?
We do not know much about the account here. For example has he ever taken abribe before,or does he know anybody who took,or bribed someone.
Let's not be quick to paint him as an upright fellow. To eradicate corruption," the briber, and the bribee" are both guilty, and should equally face the wrath of the law.
