President Ruto has appointed businesswoman Mary Wambui Mungai as the new Chairperson of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) for a period of three years.

Wambui replaces Gilbert Kibe, who resigned from the position on Friday barely seven months after he was appointed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta on May 17th. In a letter sent to President Ruto, Kibe said he was stepping down from the over personal reasons.

“Due to personal interests that I wish to pursue, I hereby tender my resignation as Chairman of the Board of the Communications Authority of Kenya with effect from December 1, 2022,” Kibe said in the letter copied to ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo.

Until her appointment, Wambui was the Vice-Chairperson of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party Disputes Resolution Committee.

Wambui, a director of Purma Holdings Limited is not new to controversy and was last December arrested alongside her daughter Purity Njoki Mungai over a Sh2.2 billion tax evasion saga.

Purma Holdings Limited, a company that has won several government tenders, deals in general supplies.

Only the thieves are getting what they were promised, power and more opportunities to steal. The mama mbogas and boda bodas will have to wait a long time for their turn if at all it will ever come. For now they should be contented with KES500 loan from the hustler fund. That’s to make you rich. Good luck guys.
