Madaraka Day Fete: Uhuru Breaks Protocol, Invites Raila to Speak Before Him

President Kenyatta defied protocol during the 58th Madaraka Day celebrations by inviting ODM leader Raila Odinga to speak before him.

As customary, Deputy President William Ruto made his speech and invited the president to address the gathering.

When Kenyatta rose to speak, he apologized for breaking protocol and invited Odinga to deliver his speech even though the ODM leader does not hold any official position in the government.

“You will forgive me, but let me break protocol today to invite my brother, Raila Odinga, Jakom, to say hi to you and to deliver his Madaraka Day sentiments, welcome my brother,” Kenyatta said amid cheers from the crowd.

In his brief speech, Odinga rooted for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), saying it is a bridge to a united country.

“We must remain united and support BBI which will bring unprecedented development and enhance unity in the Country. Handshake has given us an opportunity to bring Kenyans together and enhance development across the county, said Odinga.

He also thanked President Uhuru for undertaking development projects in the region.

Against protocol, Odinga went ahead to invite President Kenyatta to deliver his speech at the Madaraka Day fete held at Kisumu International Stadium.

Useless waste of time for Kenyans. Doesn’t matter who speaks before who at the end of the day COVID is real and it doesn’t seem there is much time to waste. Ati BBI will unite the country this is laughable., Bure Kabisa and Waste of time

In essence that's why we can change protocols to suit the occasion.
So, we can justify corruption, murders, looting of the government coffers, Rapping all government institutions with no remorse.
This has nothing to do with the Unity but trying to protect the DYNASTIES.
REVOLUTION KENYANS, REVOLUTION.

How can jambazi Uhuru hold a political rally yet he banned them because of COVID?Does it mean that he had COVID impunity which he extended to those present? What does tribal inclusivity mean if Uhuru,Kibaki,Wanjigi,Murathe,Karua etc only shares their Gikuyu loot with their families?

Even with their differences, I appreciate the respect these two have for one another. I’ve grown to like Raila over the years.

Exactly what no sane president should never again entertain- rewarding lawlessness and massaging the ego of a selfish brute. Does it mean that from now on all one needs is to sacrifice the lives of innocent young men/women so they can have a sit at the "eating table?". What will stop another mad man from using this script? How is BBI con job supposed to cure the mental sickness of a person who believe they must win for there to be peace? The president sold hatred towards raila so he could get votes! Now that he is getting out he has flipped the hate and now directs it to Hon. DP and his community branding them thieves and ALL. Who does that and then claim they are for peace? Why do we have to pay billions to have peace via BBI- exactly what you were elected to give Kenyans? When did it occur to you "Kenya is divided?". If you had political manners you would asked your "party" to run on BBI as a promise to implement after elections 2022.Let people vote in a party that promises the con you are selling and if you win/any party that wins on it gets to start the BBI stuff. You don't want that because it all a lie! Give counties 35% now- tell HELB to forgive loans- send monies to schools so bursary is not a funding system- OH you need BBI for that right? What a disappointment of a young president that people thought had it upstairs but again labda umerogwa! Your veiled threat at judiciary will not save your nakedness. Obey the law- follow the legal process and show humility- you cannot be the most brilliant of all Kenyans- even my grandma can teach a thing of two in the wisdom department- you have none and it pains me because you are wasting the country chasing your tail.
