Kenyan Man Arrested with 47 Fake Title Deeds

A suspected fraudster was on Sunday arrested in Kiambu County in possession of more than 40 fake title deeds.

The man identified as Ng’ang’a Kanina was nabbed in Gatundu South by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

During the arrest, officers confiscated 47 counterfeit land ownership documents registered under different names from his house.

The DCI in a statement posted on Twitter said the title deeds were purported to have been issued by Kiambu and Machakos county land registrars.

“The fake land title deeds are suspected to be used by fraudsters to obtain money by false pretenses from unsuspecting members of the public,” said the DCI.

“All the title deeds have been retained as exhibits pending further investigations.”

The suspect is being detained pending arraignment in court on Monday to face the charge of making public documents without authority.
